Who We Are
Our Story: A Legacy of Leadership and Innovation
Kolhapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded on May 17, 1983, by the esteemed industrialist Late Shri. Shivajirao Desai. This initiative marked a new era in the trade, commerce, industry, banking, service sectors, and transport in Kolhapur, with the inaugural ceremony honored by the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Hon’ble Shankarrao Chavan.
Founding Vision and Growth
Under the inspiring leadership of Shri. Shivajirao Desai, our Chamber quickly established itself as a vital force in promoting industrial and commercial development. Over the years, we have cultivated a robust organizational structure that supports a diverse range of sectors and has facilitated the creation of various trade associations to foster collective growth.
In 1999, we marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of our new office, featuring modern amenities such as a conference hall, training center, and library. This new phase was celebrated with an inauguration by His Excellency Dr. P. C. Alexander, the then Governor of Maharashtra.
Advocacy and Representation
Our Chamber has been at the forefront of addressing critical issues affecting the business community, including Octroi, Turnover Tax, VAT, and more. Through effective representation and collaboration with major organizations like FICCI, FAM, and other regional chambers, we have successfully advocated for and implemented policies beneficial to our members.
We take pride in organizing a range of trade and industry seminars and conferences to keep our members informed and engaged. Additionally, our efforts in establishing trade organizations in rural areas reflect our commitment to fostering economic development across all regions.
Future Directions
As we embark on our next chapter, our focus is on infrastructural development and enhancing training facilities for traders, industrialists, and service providers. Our special initiatives in the IT sector, supported by industry giants like Microsoft, Wipro, and Infosys, underscore our commitment to innovation and progress.
With a forward-looking approach, we are preparing for our centenary celebrations and strategizing for the next 75 years to ensure continued growth and improvement for our community.
Leadership and Vision
With 85 trade and industry organizations currently affiliated with us, our leadership has included notable figures such as Shri. Pradeepbhai Kapdia and Late Shri. Vasantrao Naik, following the legacy of our founder. As we celebrate our Silver Jubilee, Young Businessman Shri. Anand Mane leads us with a dynamic team, driving forward with enthusiasm and vision.
